Justin Smit, Implementations Manager, Alertus Technologies

Justin Smit is an Implementation Manager for Alertus Technologies. In this role, he oversees implementation, ensures customer satisfaction through follow-up, evaluates client needs in the initial scope of project, determines project plans, and schedules/performs training.

Justin brings 12 years of consulting experience to Alertus. In his previous five-year role in Federal consulting, he led requirements analysis and IT software implementation work streams efforts for an electronic application management project utilized by a federal staff of over 5,000. Justin also has four years of experience providing Federal and University-affiliated clients with organization design and change management consulting. He supported the stand up of a 150 person Federal department and conducted change management analyses for over 60 organizations. In addition, Justin raised more than $3.6 million dollars toward housing and scholarship needs during his time as manager of capital campaigns for University-affiliated clients. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Finance from Virginia Tech.

Amanda manages all facets of the channel sales division, including sales training and support, and developing channel strategy. She prides herself on maintaining successful development and growth of the company through channel partners. Amanda is an engaging​ and knowledgeable speaker, with extensive experience presenting on the latest information in emergency mass notification technologies and best practices.

Tommi Robison-Farr, Director, Western USA, Shooter Detection Systems

Tommi is a Senior Fellow of the Homeland Security Emergency Management Center of Excellence (HSEM), Vice Chair of ASIS International Puget Sound, and past Co-Chair of Critical Infrastructure Protection Working Group (CWIG) – a King County Advisory Group under EMAC.

Matthew Mauzy, Emergency Response Technology Manager, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

Matthew Mauzy is the Emergency Response Technology Manager for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In this role, he is responsible for the IT behind the Alert Carolina Emergency Notification System, which is used by 55,000+ students, faculty, and staff. Matthew is the Change Advisory Board manager, the process lead for major IT incidents, and is currently the project manager for the migration of UNC’s on premise WordPress instances to the cloud. He implemented a "one-button" solution to automate initial Emergency Notifications, reducing a multi-step 15-minute process to a single human step with full activation in less than two minutes.

Since 1996, Matthew has been involved in emergency services as a swiftwater/flood and rope rescue instructor in New Orleans, Louisiana and northern Maine. He is the chief of South Orange Rescue Squad and serves as the lead LUH-72 rescue tech for the North Carolina Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team.

Guy specializes in prediction, recognition, and evaluation of crime risk, and consults with business owners, managers, insurance carriers, and police worldwide developing congruent plans to reduce crime risk through policy design and training.

Guy worked on the FBI Joint Terrorism task force immediately following the events of 9/11 to develop first responder response protocols and capabilities for terrorist attacks. He is an internationally known trainer, speaker, professional security consultant, and licensed master peace officer in Texas. Additionally, Guy is an adjunct instructor for the ALERRT Center (Texas State University), the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), The Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT), and is a member of the board for Texas Justice of the Peace and Constables education and training development.

In addition to managing over 800 security officers and support staff, George Economas is responsible for planning and implementing new technologies and the development and deployment strategies to combat criminal activity in and around Johns Hopkins Hospital System's institutions.

He is also currently a member of multiple committees and professional organizations: Emergency Management Committee, Health Safety and the Environment Committee, Controlled Substance Sub Committee, Risk Assessment Team, aQuality Improvement, International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety Directors American Society of Industrial Security. George holds a Master’s Degree in business from Johns Hopkins University.
