Alertus Desktop for Chrome, Privacy Policy
Alertus Desktop for Chrome is a Chrome extension that displays emergency and informational alerts sent by your organization using your Chrome browser. This SERVICE is provided by Alertus Technologies and is intended for use as is.
This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service.
If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which is accessible from your Alertus Account manager, unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.
I. Information we collect and use
Except as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy, we do not sell, trade, rent or otherwise share for marketing purposes your Personal Information with third-parties without your consent.
The Alertus extension allows your organization to send targeted alerts to you and to view activation/acknowledgement information for connected devices. Your organization will also be able to see when the extension is running and any status information provided by the client during normal operation.
The Alertus Chromebook extension communicates directly with your organization’s dedicated Alertus server. Any information sent to this server is not communicated back to Alertus or other parties and may be accessible by your organization in reports or log files.Your organization may send this information out to public safety or security personnel or use it in other ways. Alertus has no control over how this information is re-transmitted or used by your organization.
The specific information shared depends on your organization’s configuration and needs. Hardware/software information on your device such as IP address, chrome version, serial number, annotated location, asset ID, device model and device manufacturer may be provided. If Chrome Sync is enabled on your Google account, information such as your email address and user domain may be transmitted as well.
The app does not use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you.
II. Cookies
Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device's internal memory.
This Service does not use these “cookies” explicitly. However, the app may use third party code and libraries that use “cookies” to collect information and improve their services. You have the option to either accept or refuse these cookies and know when a cookie is being sent to your device. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of this Service.
